Fear is found on a creaking glacier in the Caucasus mountains and joy is encapsulated in the perfect Shanghai dumpling, believes Melbourne-based travel writer Belinda Jackson.

“And while I love a $500-a-night hotel room (who doesn't?), sometimes the best stories are found in a $20 guesthouse.”

With an eye always out for good markets and great street eats, she writes travel features for Sydney's Sun-Herald and Sydney Morning Herald and Melbourne's The Age newspapers, and hunts down the travel news for the Sun-Herald each week. She has a particular soft spot for the wilds of the Middle East, scarves and carpets.

Her articles and photographs have been published in a range of consumer magazines and newspapers in Australia and abroad including Voyeur (Virgin Australia), Paradise (Air Nuiguini), Honda magazine, marie claire (Australia) and interior design magazines Belle, Vogue Living & Entertaining and Australian Home Beautiful. Other publications include Get Lost!, Abercrombie & Kent magazine, Morning Calm (Korean Air), Finnair, OutThere (Rex Airlines), Outback magazine, Vacations & Travel, The Irish Times, The Irish Independent, Australian Doctor, Accor Traveller, Western Horseman (US), The Adelaide Advertiser and the Sunday Mail's HOME magazine. She has also been a columnist for glossy News Ltd lifestyle magazine The Adelaide magazine.

Belinda occasionally reports on world events for Ireland's RTE Radio, is a contributor and hotel reviewer for Travel Intelligence, a UK-based website of professional travel writers, and has been on the judging panel of Gourmet Traveller's annual travel awards.  She is also a member of the Australian Society of Travel Writers.
